They've used megasquirt on Toyota Engines VVTL-I, which from my understanding do the same thing as i-VTEC , although the exectution in the valvetrain is probably different. It's a viable alternative if you can find a competant tuner. But that's the key, your engine management is only as good as the person tuning it.

- It does put more load on the engine since the trailer is just another brick being pulled behind me. The wind resistance is what is doing it I'm sure. At 50-60 mph it's not an issue but at 70 plus it does put me at about 95 kpa or higher if I'm getting with it. It's a different area on the rpm/kpa map and it will need it's own tune.

Also after looking at 32/36 to z24i adapter its looks like for z24i to 32/34 flange you may not even need an adapter.

I let TunerStudio auto tune parts, so it might look really jacked up. My idle and low throttle was 14.7-15.5. Of course I don't have the iac hooked up, so it would sit at 400 rpms. Trying to get the engine to the point I can tune fuel tables is near impossible. Trying to tune the warm up is also impossible.

Good for tuning and better for keeping an eye on the motor. I've only road tuned my megasquirt, but it was certainly good enough for daily duties and thrashing as well. If your chasing power and performance, you really do need to get it onto a dyno though. However, I was happy with my DIY tune for 7000+km

Id def check out megasquirt that was my original plans.. 93/94 altima and 240sx obd1 dual cam share the same pinouts minus the electric fans which can be patched into a 240sx ecu. Emance is iffy. Jwt is legit my car runs great.
Dec 22, 2020 · Once the custom tune is created by your local shop, you can upload that tune to your Mustang using your handheld device. Another custom tuning option if you’re in a 2011+ Mustang or 2007-2014 GT500 is to pick up an nGauge tuner from Lund Racing. Once purchased, Lund Racing will create and cater a completely custom tune for your specific build.
In the Megasquirt community there is a real-time live version of this script and also a secondary, post-process version. I like the real time driving version when roughing in a VE table and then the post-process version to fine tune. Phil Tobin (Author of MLV and TS software) can be found at efianalytics.com. He is easy to communicate with.

So I just bought a 95 Mustang 347 that needs a bad tuning runs very rich and doesn’t get nearly the power it should. I notice it has a megasquirt computer in it. The shop by me wants me to ditch the megasquirt and buy a regular 95 GT computer and custom tune a chip. I don't mind using these moving forward, but since I will be tuning both a v8 and a 4 cylinder in the near future (hopefully), it will benefit me to have these 2 cars be as similar as possible. I like Megasquirt because of price, and from what I understand, system flexibility (I have questions below on this however).

Hundreds of hours. Refining, tweaking, experimenting. The end result was an NA 245 that made 110whp, close to 30whp over what the car made on LH2.2, and would get around 36mpg on the freeway. Again, I drove the shit out of the car. Dead reliable. Never had to touch the tune, never had issues with the car running. Turn the key, drive car.

Recall that MegaSquirt can only change fuel by 0.1 milliseconds at a time. And also recall that MegaSquirt assumes NO fuel is injected during opening (which is close to true, since the injectors remain closed until the coils charge, then they snap open at the end of the opening time).

I used Megasquirt for fuel and ignition control. Vortec 5.3L Vortec 6.0L . Follow this link for more pics of the 383 LT1 and 305 TPI. LT1 was installed with a stock 1995 PCM and wiring harness I modified for the swap. The TPI is controlled by Megasquirt II using a MSD Pro Billet Distributor. All ignition and fuel control comes from Megasquirt II.

The tuning was through TweecerRT with a separate wide band. It looks like the overlap was 7 degrees at 0.050" tappet lift. Running the engine was an eye watering experience. I tried to tune the fuel injection timing and it helped and the engine could stabilize if I disabled the auto tuning features. Above 2K the engine wanted to wind to the moon.

I don't mind using these moving forward, but since I will be tuning both a v8 and a 4 cylinder in the near future (hopefully), it will benefit me to have these 2 cars be as similar as possible. I like Megasquirt because of price, and from what I understand, system flexibility (I have questions below on this however).
That setup would only use 1 output instead of 4. If you were willing to go that route, then another option for getting individual LSx coils with a carburetor is to run them through an EDIS module and MegaJolt Jr. instead of MegaSquirt. MegaJolt Jr. is a scaled down version of MegaSquirt that runs ignition only. _____

The double relay has three power supplies. One is a large red wire that comes directly from the battery and is an unprotected circuit. This kind of bothers me but it’s worked for 30 years so I kept it as is. There is also the fuel pump circuit that comes from the fuse box and is hot all the time.
